Visiting Kefalonia through GLEE’S eyes… 5+1 things to see and do!

Learning Greek is one thing. Living it is another. That’s why when our student Netta took GLEE on her trip to Kefalonia, we knew we had to share the adventure!

Kefalonia is a gem of the Ionian Sea — full of color, charm, history, and breathtaking nature. Here are 6 unforgettable places that Netta and GLEE visited, and why they’re worth a spot on your travel list.

🏖 1. Myrtos Beach – The Iconic View

GLEE admiring the endless blue.

Probably the most famous beach in Kefalonia, Myrtos is known for its dazzling turquoise waters, dramatic cliffs, and white pebbles. It’s not just a beach — it’s a postcard come to life.

🏛 2. Assos – A Village Frozen in Time

once more!

Assos is a small, picturesque village tucked into a peaceful bay. With its colorful houses and old Venetian charm, it’s perfect for strolling, relaxing, and imagining life in another era.

Don’t miss the hike up to Assos Castle for panoramic views — and a little taste of history.

🌅 3. Fiskardo – Elegance by the Sea

People speaking Greek, English, Italian...
Fiskardo is like a little cosmopolitan corner of Kefalonia.

Fiskardo is the only village that survived the 1953 earthquake untouched — and it shows. Chic, yet traditional, it’s full of boats, cafés, and colorful architecture. Ideal for a slow walk and fresh seafood.

🧿 4. Agios Georgios Castle – A Glimpse into the Past

GLEE climbed the old stones and gazed at the view, which was stunning, even on a cloudy day…!

Before Argostoli became the capital, Agios Georgios Castle was the heart of Kefalonia’s power. Built by the Byzantines and later expanded by the Venetians, the fortress offers stunning views and echoes of centuries gone by.

🚤 5. Melissani Cave – Magic Beneath the Earth

Probably one of GLEE’S best and unforgettable experiences in Kefalonia!

One of Kefalonia’s most unique experiences, Melissani Cave is a hidden underground lake with crystal-clear water that glows blue in the sunlight. A short boat ride takes you into this otherworldly place.

🍻 6. GLEE Goes Local: Coffee, Beer, and Greek Vibes

There was no way GLEE could visit Greece and not enjoy a freddo cappuccino and a cold Alfa beer! Τhe simple pleasures of a seaside café. Between the salty breeze, the sound of cicadas, and the clinking of coffee cups, GLEE soaked up every moment — like a true local.
